Pastor Larry

Experience in teaching, preaching, and leadership, which provides a strong foundation. A proven executive-level Christian leader in the areas of strategic planning, organizational development, discipleship pathways, teaching, equipping, staff oversight, and training.

Pastor Larry Lewis, Sr. is the oldest child of six children born in Columbus, Mississippi. Having obtained a diploma in Juneau, Alaska, Pastor Lewis enlisted and served in the United States Air Force. It was during his service in Anchorage, Alaska, that Pastor Lewis accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was soon filled with the Baptism of the Holy Ghost and accepted his calling to preach the Gospel.

Pastor Lewis furthered his education at Foster College in Ripley, Mississippi, and Holmes Community College, in Goodman, Mississippi, where he received barbers and cosmetology licenses, respectively. He also completed coursework in Liberal Arts at Anchorage Community College (Anchorage, AK) and Altus Community College (Altus, OK). His matriculation was followed by a successful professional career. Pastor Lewis was the owner and operator of Lewis Barber and Beauty Shop for nearly ten years. Later in life, his business portfolio expanded to include real estate and rental properties.

Most importantly, Pastor Lewis is a servant of the Lord. For more than 30 years, he has dedicated himself to the ministry, allowing God to order his steps and impact countless lives in the process. Pastor Lewis' preaching has drawn many to Christ -- reaching lost souls, teaching precepts of discipleship, and encouraging the saints to persevere. His authenticity and passion for evangelism have made him a highly sought revivalist across the country. Pastor Lewis was licensed under the late Superintendent W. A. Wells of Alaska and was ordained in 1982 under the late Bishop T. T. Scott of Mississippi. He has led three churches in the Northern Mississippi Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction, Church of God in Christ (COGIC). Currently, he pastors both Lighthouse COGIC in Blaine, Mississippi, and House of Prayer COGIC in Greenville, Mississippi. He also pastored Greater St. Matthew COGIC in Lexington, Mississippi.

After six years with the Sunday School Department (Superintendent, District #10), Pastor Lewis transitioned to the Youth Department (formerly Young People Willing Workers), a move that would propel his ministry to new heights. He served as Youth President for District #4 (ten years) before he was appointed Jurisdictional Youth President in 2002. The following year, Pastor Lewis was named Regional Vice President for the International Youth Department - Southern Region, where he remained faithful for five years. In 2014, Pastor Lewis was appointed Southern Regional President for the International Youth Department. In this capacity, Pastor Lewis coordinates youth ministry for 23 jurisdictions across the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee. His tenure is best described as history-making and record-breaking. Each year, the Southern Regional Youth Rally brings 3,000-4,000+ people together for two days of spiritual empowerment and training, making it one of the largest gatherings of the national church. It has become a model for other regions. The International President, Vice President, Chairlady, and several jurisdictional prelates have experienced these rallies firsthand. Nevertheless, Pastor Lewis accredits its success to the leading of the Lord, namely a 21-Day Consecration that precedes each rally.

For his exemplary leadership, Pastor Lewis was named Co-Chairman of the National Coalition of Jurisdictional Presidents and Co-Chairman of the Regional Presidents, both within the International Youth Department. One of his greatest joys is pouring into youth and other youth leaders through workshops at the jurisdictional, regional, and international levels. Throughout this time, Pastor Lewis remains faithful to his local churches and the Northern Mississippi Jurisdiction. In addition to youth ministry, Pastor Lewis has previously served as an adjutant and maintains his role as Food Service Coordinator.
